Gabrielle S. Friedman

 

Gabi is a partner at Lankler Siffert & Wohl LLP in New York City, a renowned “white collar boutique” ranked as a first tier firm by Chambers and Partners in 2018.

Gabi holds degrees from Columbia and Brown Universities, studied abroad in Germany and the UK, and completed her studies at the Yale Law School.   After beginning her career at Cleary Gottlieb in New York, Gabi served as law clerk to a federal judge in Manhattan, and then joined LSW in 2004. She has built a practice representing individuals in complex government investigations conducted by US authorities including the U.S. Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, various United States Attorney’s Offices, as well as state authorities.  She has amassed considerable experience defending clients in cross border prosecutions involving allegations of wire fraud, foreign bribery, conspiracy to commit fraud and money laundering, among other issues. Her clients include manufacturing and financial executives, board members, physicians, sophisticated investors, artists and accounting professionals.   Gabi speaks fluent German and has lived in Germany, enabling her to not only communicate directly with clients in their own language, but also to appreciate European cultural norms and business practices.

Billy Jacobson

 

Billy is a founding partner of Jacobson Lopez PLLC in Washington, D.C. He specializes in FCPA and white-collar defense, investigations and compliance, representing corporations, private equity firms and individuals. With over 30 years of experience, he has addressed white collar issues from three key vantage points: in-house counsel, federal prosecutor and private practitioner.

Billy has been the Co-General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at one of the world’s largest oilfield service companies, served as a federal prosecutor, including as Assistant Chief for FCPA Enforcement in the DOJ’s Fraud Section and been appointed an independent compliance monitor. Billy’s compliance engagements include having being appointed as independent compliance monitor of a Brazilian petrochemical company by the DOJ, SEC, and Brazilian MPF; representing companies with compliance reporting obligations to the DOJ and SEC; and serving as regular anti-corruption and compliance counsel to some of the world’s largest companies. Billy has also represented executives and other individuals in many criminal investigations over the years, including such landmark matters as the Volkswagen Dieselgate investigation and the Glencore FCPA matter.
